Agaves are the bold sculptural members of the succulent family. All grow in rosettes of fleshy leaves, some with teeth along the edges and tips while others are smooth. Leaves can be green, gray-green, striped yellow or white, or ghostly gray. All bloom, sometimes after many years, and when that happens, the mother plant usually dies leaving behind offshoots that can then be replanted or left to develop new plants. Grow in full sun to part shade in well draining soil provide with moderate water. Leaves may shrivel under extreme drought. Plant Agaves as bold statements and focal points in the landscape. They lend themselves very well to contemporary plantings. They are very well suited for containers. When planted in pots allow the soil to dry out between waterings and feed lightly only once or twice a year. Position Agaves with their teeth away from walkways, especially around pools. Listed below are just a few of our most popular varieties of Agave.
