Conifers are trees or shrubs that have needle or scale-like leaves. They are almost always evergreen and produce either cones or berries. Some Conifers can get very tall and stately such as certain Cedar varieties while some are low growing ground huggers. Leaf color varies from shades of green, blue-green, gray or yellow creating interesting contrasts. Use larger growing conifers for specimen accents and in large scale gardens. Medium height varieties can be use for hedging or foundation planting. Low growing varieties can be used on slopes as ground cover or trailing over walls. Many Juniper varieties serve this purpose well, are easy to grow in most soils and have low water requirements. Below we feature some of our most popular large growing Conifers.
